In Filipino culture, caring for our elders is not just a duty—it is an expression of love and gratitude. Growing up in the Philippines, I was raised by my grandmother, who showered me with unconditional love and wisdom. When the time came that she needed help and attention, I was one of the few who cared for her. Not because I had to, but because I wanted to. I have always had a deep love and respect for the elderly. The care and sacrifices they give to their children and grandchildren are pure and selfless, and they deserve that same love in return.
In 2017, I migrated to the U.S. and began working as a caregiver in a board and care facility. I quickly realized how much I enjoyed caring for the elderly, which led me to further my education in vocational nursing. By 2019, I became a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) and started working in a nursing home, where I was able to care for even more seniors.
Then, the COVID-19 pandemic hit. I stepped up as an Infection Control and Prevention Nurse, a role that became one of the most demanding during that time. Preventing the spread of infection among the most vulnerable population was a tremendous challenge. I witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of isolation—nursing homes were locked down, visitations were restricted, communal dining and activities were halted. I watched as the elderly’s physical and mental well-being deteriorated at an alarming rate. It was heartbreaking to see how quickly loneliness took a toll on them.
This experience changed me. I realized that being alone is not healthy for anyone, especially for the elderly who need physical and emotional support. That’s when I knew I had to do something more.
With my experience, knowledge, and connections with the most compassionate and skilled caregivers I have worked with, I founded JB Trusted Care—a home care agency dedicated to providing seniors with the quality care, companionship, and dignity they deserve. Our mission is to extend a helping hand to those in need, ensuring they receive the best care possible in the comfort of their own homes.
This is more than just a business—it is a calling, a passion, and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of those who once took care of us.
